30+ sites (6.096mW X 9.144mD) (20ftW X 30ftD) including 1 – 15 amp electrical outlet. We reserve the right to final placement of the teams. We ask that if you do not require the full space allotted that you let us know in advance so we might make room for more teams or adjust the dimensions for teams requesting larger sites. You must provide a picture or a hand drawn diagram (must show all measurements, width x length x height) of your setup so we can find the best spot for your team. The festival grounds have permanent washrooms with indoor plumbing (no shower).
Teams are required to be at a cook’s meeting on June 22nd @ 3pm in the judge’s tent.
The competition is comprised of 4 meat categories (pork butt, pork back or St. Louis ribs, chicken, and beef brisket) and points from each category will be used to determine the Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion, and 3rd Place Overall. This event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society and their official rules and regulations will apply. All judging will be double blind by KCBS trained judges.
$5,000.00 prize payout per contest as follows:
• Grand Champion: $1,000.00 and plaque
• Reserve Grand Champion: $750.00 and plaque
• 3rd Place Overall: $450.00 and plaque
• 1st place: $200.00 and plaque
• 2nd place: $150.00 and ribbon
• 3rd place: $100.00 and ribbon
• 4th place: $75.00 and ribbon
• 5th place: $50.00 and ribbon
• 6th-10th place: $25.00 and ribbon
Competition #1 prizes will be awarded at approximately 4 pm, Saturday, June 23rd at the main stage judging area. Competition #2 prizes will be awarded at approximately 4 pm, Sunday, June 24th at the lower level stage area. At least one member of each cooking team is required to be present for the awards presentations.
